DMK Women Conference, Cuddalore

The two-day DMK Women's wing conference, aimed at expanding its support base ahead of the next Lok Sabha elections, kicked-off here on Saturday with women members of party Chief M Karunanidhi's family taking the centre stage for the first time.

The party, in a show of strength of its women power, took out an impressive rally, in which over 50,000 women from all over the state, clad in black and white sarees and churidhar, participated.

Karunanidhi, accompanied by his wife-Dayalu, 'life-partner' Rajathi, daughter Kanimozhi and grand daughter Kayalvizhi, witnessed the party flag being hoisted at a 85-feet high post, signalling the age of the DMK patriarch.

Madurai M.K.Azhagiri

MK Azhagiri | M.K.Azhagiri | M K Azhagiri

Muthuvel Karunanidhi Azhagiri, generally known as M. K. Azhagiri, Madurai, is an Indian politician. The elder son of the head of the Dravida Munnetra Kazagham, Karunanidhi, he is a candidate to succeed him as party president.

Although he harboured hopes of eventual accession to the post of President, Karunanidhi always appeared to prefer his younger son, M.K. Stalin, a former mayor of Chennai and currently a minister in the state cabinet. In fact, in 2000, orders went out that partymembers should 'distance' themselves from Azhagiri.

Following clashes between the supporters of M. K. Stalin and M. K. Azhagiri, he was sent to manage the party in the southern districts of Tamil Nadu from Madurai, while M. K. Stalin was retained in Chennai to manage the party in the northern districts.

M.K.Azhagiri has two daughters and one son. He lives in Madurai.

Leaders, Education, Youth, Corruption, Our Country!!

Most of the problems starts with Leaders! Leaders in our country are not as great as
olden days Or not as great as many countries in the world.

Ofcourse, we are a democracy and we elect the leaders. Leaders are our representation for administrating and governing the country. This applies to only the time, the leaders are elected in our country. After they step up to power, their attitude changes. Leaders are not an example to the people. Leaders should exemplify themselves to the people. This does not apply to Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam and few others. The President definitely exemplifies with his character.

Most of the leaders in our country are selfish. Leaders are corrupt. There are very few leaders who are not corrupt and who do not do illegal and criminal stuff. In some way or other bribes are being given.

How long people would be fools like today!? When will people change and understand the whole situation around these corrupt leaders!? I am sure everyone understands the situation, but nobody reacts or acts to the situation. This excludes some non-profit organizations.

Even if anybody comes out and gives words against these political leaders, they get silenced after some threatens! Who would come out and give voices?! Who would change the world and make the country a better place to live? Who will tie the bell around the cat's neck!?

Leaders have to be moulded from the day 1. It is all possible through youngsters only! It is all possible through the education! Youngsters should come out with courage, planning, intelligence, honesty and skilled!

This is definitely possible! Not by just waking up and start the task! But this can be achieved by sheer planning and execution to make this country a better place.

A day has to come when we are not frustrated and tortured with various corruption items in our country. Things has to be clean!!! I mean real CLEAN in terms of no-crime!!

Corrupt Madurai RTO Office: Had to Bribe in 2000

Please note that the below story is about an incident happenned in 2000. I am NOT sure about the current situation in Madurai RTO office. But please read on about the real incident in the past.

Corrupt Madurai RTO Office: Did Bribing in the year 2000
This dates back to year 2000. Right after my college and my company placement I had training in a local driving school and managed to get trained for 30 days - two and four wheeler training.

I appeared on the day of the license. I did pass in my driving tests. While standing in queue for the application, I had to pay Rs.20 for republic day stamp. I crossed 2 tables and had to pay atleast Rs.20 to Rs.30 to the officers desk.

This is somewhere in the middle of year 2000. I am not sure what is the situation now in Madurai RTO office. This happenned in Bye-Pass Road - South Madurai.

I had to pay because everyone paid. If I don't pay the bribe, I cannot get my license. In fact, I saw the officers in their khakhi pants and white shirts, we going past the queue, when the things are happenning.

I remember it clearly, but I cannot do anything. This happenned in every government office in Madurai. Why should I pay for the government services, provided by the government servants, who are getting paid as salary by the government.

This should change! I heard from someone that these days they don't ask for bribe. Good to hear that and I wish it remains the same.

As said by Tamil Film Director Shankar in his movie "Indian" - casted by actor padmashree Kamalhassan - he says Officers abroad get "lanjam"(bribe), for not doing or overriding some rules and laws, But Officers in India are getting money for doing their duty in India.

God Bless Madurai and overall India!

Madurai under the clutches of rowdies and gangsters

Madurai under the clutches of rowdies and gangsters:

The below viewpoint explains about the majority of Madurai and not all of the local politicians and not all the administrative officials are like the way it is explained below. There are definitely some honest people. Please read on ....

Today every officer and a local politician has to listen to rowdies, criminals and gangsters. Every decision is directed by these RCG (Rowdies, Criminals and Gangsters).

An administrative official is not able to do his duty, due to pressure from various entities in Madurai. Even the local politicians have to ask the RCGs, before doing anything good to people.

On one hand, the local politicians are selfish and try to accumulate their wealth. In another hand, the administrative officials need money to do their duty. On top of all these RCGs pressure these functionaries, for every execution of tasks.

In fact RCGs are one of the main cause of these corruption and costing behaviour.

Overall, who is affected?! None other than the Madurai people. Madurai's economy. Madurai's production...

We need leaders to crash all these inefficient elements. We need rules and orders to make things effective. We need punishments for everyone to abide by the rules of the government.

Problems in Madurai - Part II

Here are the problems I think Madurai has -

Attitude of the people...There is a very narrow thinking and never thinks of productivity. Trying to be lazy. Not doing the work properly. Very conservative...Priorities are trivial and not very productive....Never allow others to progress...

Illiteracy....Not much education...Less awareness among people...

Health issues...Due to lack of awareness and poverty, there are many health issues... have already discussed as a separate topic in previous articles...

Population....Too many births...Not being aware about the population control programmes...

Poverty...There is a huge percentage still under poveryt line..Not even having the basic things like - food, water and shelter!!

Government....Till now there had been never a very good government for making the city productive...

Corrupt Administration...Administration had been corrupt at most of the times and things...Never been a very clean administration. Every point and node is corrupt in the administrative system of the government...Even if the administration is clean, the politicians never leave them alone...

Rowdism, Gangism...Not much law and order is maintained...Many Robberies, rapes, Crimes. Every one tries to take weapons - Aruval(Sickle kind of knife)...Police is corrupt even...So there is not much law and order maintained....

Definitely not environmental friendly...

Brain Drain...All the best human resources move out of the city...to madras/chennai, bangalore, hyderabad, mumbai, America/abroad....

Very few people follow rules...Even take for example traffic rules...very less people follow it...

Amidst all these, many are lazy and not being productive...just laze around and being a load to the earth's gravity...

I am sometimes very angry about the above facts...Sometimes I become very pity to the people...sometimes feeling like doing something for these people, which I will eventually do...
Sometimes I become emotional and even shed tears thinking about the situation...
Anyway, whatever it is - we should do some action to get rid of these problems...We should knock these problems out and become a strong city and stand as an example to the state, country...and in fact to the world...

If this continues in every city, we will never become a developed nation, and always remain a third world country...

in fact, most of these issues are discussed in newmadurai.org and aimed to be solved in a long-term. Check out http://www.newmadurai.org

I will be talking about the potential advantages in Madurai, in my next article...

What a crazy idea?

Within 5 years timeframe, anybody who does not have a colour television will be given a colour television by the government!! This is what the ruling government respected Chief Minister Dr. Kalaignar Karunanidhi says to tamil nadu people.

In 5 years, there won't be anybody in tamil nadu without a color television, it seems. In total the budget seems to be 750 crores for this particular project.

What is the use? What a non-productive idea?! Will this make people work more and make the state and country gain more or even the people won't get prosperous? Instead people will become dumb...Will people understand what a flaw-filled policy this is?! Whose money is all these?! Who is approving this? Did People approve this? It's all tax money of the properly tax paying middle-class people.

Please think about it!! and open as many eyes as possible!

Watch this video for Respected Chief Minister's speech on this...

Democracy is dying!!! - 500th article of Madurai Times Publication

THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN.

Please read on about the article below -

Yes, Democracy is dying in Madurai - Tamil Nadu - South India - in fact all over India. Democracy is like a human body. Human body is corrupted with all kinds of bacterias, viruses and diseases.

Democracy is not anymore in India. We are being brainwashed that there is democracy going on India. But it is not. There are three enemies to democracy. Here are they -

(i) Corruption
(ii) Corruption
(iii) Corruption

Democracy has become with lot of holes, due to corruption. Democracy, as a system is not functioning, because of the fact that executive, judiciary and legislative layers of our government is corrupted.

There had been many tamil movies based on correcting corruption - like Indian, Anniyan, Ramana etc., but the movies are being watched and enjoyed. There is no social change out of it. Director has to be appreciated for the whole effort of trying the social change, but he is going without any good results. However, he gets the commercial benefits. My question is: Why are we liking to watch a movie with such a story of corrupt free world, but not interested to make our country in that fashion.

Eyes of democracy is closed by the monopolistic press and not a brave newspaper or television company so far.

Either the press is completely associated to one political party OR the press is not brave enough to freely post their articles to reach the people of the democratic country.

People are given false and unclear pictures of what is happenning around in the country, by owning the press in their side. There is one media company in Tamil nadu, which owns as many television channels, as many morning newspapers, as many evening newspapers, as many magazines as possible. These guys own the powerful television channel, which hosts programs with highest TRP ratings. People are stuck to these TV channels. People are not thinking for prosperity. People are just before the Televisions and keep on watching. People are becoming stupids and idiots, by watching just movies and serials. There is no scope for exposure and there is no scope for productivity.

In olden days, Zamindars used to have the people in the village, illitrate. Same thing is happening right now. Political parties are even giving Free Televisions for people from their party's money or government's money(all of tax payer's money), so that people can be struck to the television sets and be idle for the rest of their lives. At the sametime, have the people watch their campaign all the time.

You might think I am angry on the government. I would not agree with that. Not really. I am not angry with the government. I am angry with the people. Angry about all of us. Cheating is not a very bad thing. Being cheated is SIN.

We, the people are being sentimental fools, by going behind actors. We consider actors and actresses more than human beings. We should learn to watch movies, as movies and not compare with real life. That will change some of our thinking and in fact our lives.

There are three levels of the government - Executive, Judicial and Legislative. All the three parts of it needs money for functioning as a bribe to everything. Not only the government, every part of our soceity works on bribe and money. Did you know India is one of the most corrupt countries in the world!? Too bad!!

In effect, we should change for the betterment of the soceity. We should change for good. Automatically, the government would change for better. If every man does some change to the soceity, automatically things will change.

Everyone should read to become refined. Everyone should make positive changes towards our life. I suggest everyone take small steps and even very big steps are not needed - For example - do not put trash on public areas, instead just put the trash in trash can!

Let us take positive action and be just not idiots hereafter. Let us give what we can even in small efforts and save Democracy.

Madurai Dirty Politics

Recently we had elections in Madurai for Madurai Central constituency. As usual, there was competition between two huge parties. Well, that is good. Competition is good. Please go ahead...

But, when campaigning, things has to be fair right?! Looks like people living in the constituency received money and other gifts from the party folks. I am not sure, if the leaders of the party knew about this. But, still these kind of bribes to voters is still going on.

Moreover, this is not from just one party. It is given by most of the parties contesting.

Will this situation change? Who will change this? Will people reject the offer from the politicians? Or will politicians and supporting people stop doing this and make the elections fair?!

The above article is my personal opinion...

Tamil Nadu State Elections 2006 Update

It is my pleasure to pen this article - Tamil Nadu Elections 2006. I always wanted to write about the elections 2006, since lot of hot things are happenning!

The opinions below are my personal opinions and does not come from an organization's perspective. As a citizen of India, I have right to express my thoughts. Well coming to the article -

AIADMK has done some good things in this ruling period. AIADMK supremo Ms. J Jayalalitha had worked hard to get some of the plans work for the poor and needy. Some of the autocratic decisions are not acceptable in this rule. She has not cooperated very well with the central government, because many tamil nadu ministers in central are from the opposition parties. It is heard that AIADMK is offering crores to actors and actresses for joining their party. AIADMK had been opposing the manifesto published by the opposition parties for their free color TV and Rs.2 for 1 Kg rice. Now, they have come up with some refined manifesto of providing 10Kg rice free, which when calculated for the approximate budget comes up as a bad budget of 800 crores, which is not feasible at all.

DMK did a good rule couple of years back, but did not win in that particular elections, which was surprising. Well, nothing is predictable. Currently DMK has come up with manifesto stating - free color TV and Rs.2 for 1 Kg rice. Atlast, using the media power DMK has, it is being justified that it is possible. Actor cum Director K.Bhagyaraj is campaigning DMK. Actor Sarath Kumar and actress Radhika left the party to join the opposition AIADMK, because of disrespect to him by an Union Minister Dayanidhi Maran.

Many projections say that AIADMK has a higher hand, but considering some recent changes in their manifesto, we cannot say anything - about who is going to win this elections.

Check out the media strength of DMK -
Print Media: Dinakaran, Tamizh Murasu, Kungumam, Mutharam, Vannathirai, Kunguma Chimizh.
FM Channels: Suryan FM Chennai, Suryan FM Coimbatore, SuryanFM Nellai, Visakha FM.
TV Channels: Sun TV, K TV, Gemini TV, Udaya TV, Surya TV, Teja TV, Ushe TV, SUN Music, Kiran TV, Adhithya TV, Udhaya2, Udaya News, Sun News, Teja News.

Check out the media strength of AIADMK -
Jaya TV Channel, Dr.Namathu MGR Newspaper.

If you are watching only SUN TV, you will vote for Rising Sun - DMK.
If you are watching only JAYA TV, you will vote for Two Leaves - AIADMK.
These two parties use their media to a great extent.

Vijaya T Rajendran has floated a party recently - Latchiya DMK - LDMK and joined hands with DMK.

A new entrant to politics has to be mentioned here as well. Actor turned Politician, DMDK Chief, Captain Vijayakanth. It is said that Vijayakanth is stealing the votes of AIADMK, than that of DMK. His propogando is against the rule of DMK and ADMK. He claims, Dravidian parties ruled so far had been cheating people so far and had not really been effective. He also seem to have a good vote bank with him. All the Best to him. However, both the parties had said he is not a threat to them at all. Also, Vijayakanth seem to use Dr. MG Ramachandran's name lot more than AIADMK!

All India Forward Bloc chief Karthik working in one side. He comes in news at times, that he has got threats from a party for not contesting. This is because he was requested by their party members to contest against a heavy-weight - AIADMK Supreo Ms.Jayalalitha. Recently a member of AIFC attempted suicide and he was dead today.

The projection mentioned above could be kind of old, and it is projected by The Hindu - leading south indian newspaper. As per the situations currently, anything could change in people's mind.

Everyone's campaign meeting could get crowd, but nobody can say who will win in this Tamil Nadu Elections 2006.

Let us wait and see for May 8th!!

All the Best to all the parties contesting this elections and hope whoever wins will serve the state to the best possible. -

Crores for campaigning

I am really ashamed and surprised to hear this - Crores are being offered for actors to join and campaign for the party!!:-(

It really frustrates me that we are still being fooled by an actor campaigning for a party!

Next to that - the political party offers lot of cash for joining them. I don't know how do they get so much money, by just being a position in administration!

In my life, it is a dream to make just ONE CRORE, and I hope it just won't become a dream! But these guys have so much crores to offer for their business.

It makes me angry in fact, but not sure how to express it. Hence this blog article.

Some of the (rumours)it might not be accurate or might not be correct -
1. Vaiko was offered 40 crores to join the party.
2. Top actor like Kamala haassan is offered 100 crores to join and campaign for the party.
3. Actor Sarath Kumar and Radhika is offered with 40 crores to join the party!

These are some of the party's rumour. I will pray god for all these be false statements.

O Podu - Must Read for everyone

This is a must read for everyone. We got to know about this organization through - HelpingMinds Group, who help the poor students for education and do other miscellaneous help to the society. Please read about oh podu in the site and get to know a very powerful tool in voting and democracy. I am so surprised that I didn't know about this till now and I guess it will apply to many of us. Of course, no political party will publish anything about it to the people - but the election commission or media should have published about this!! Anyway, atlast some people from a paper magazine called "Theemtharikida" has formed this organization. Great!!

Can you believe, we have the power of making all the candidates loose the election and cannot appear for the next elections!? It is true. please read on - http://www.keetru.com/ohpodu/english.html

Made in Madurai

"O Podu" is a social awareness movement.

"O PODU' means "cast the vote". Voting is both the right and duty of the people. Another objective of our movement is to make people aware of their constitutional right to cast their vote under section 49 'O'.

On an average, in every election, nearly 45 percent of the eligible voters don't vote at all. Therefore even if a winning candidate bags 30 percent of the polled votes, it amounts to getting the support of only about 16 percent of the total electorate. If more and more non voters begin to exercise their vote, the result of many elections would drastically change.

Why are many people not voting at all? One of the usual reasons cited is that they are unable to accept any candidate and don't want to vote for anyone of the available candidates.

It is a unique feature of our Indian constitution that it has provided the legal right to the voter to reject all the candidates. Section 49 'O' of the Election rules 1961, has empowered the voter with this right. This section has conferred the right to the voter to inform the booth officer, after the indelible ink mark has been marked, that the voter does not want to vote for any of the candidates. The section requires the booth officer to record the voter's choice of 49 'O'.

Made in Madurai

"O PODU" movement will campaign for the following demands:

1. Every voter should cast the vote. Failure to cast the vote only prevents enhancement of the standards of politics.

2. If the voter feels all the candidates are unworthy, the best ay to communicate this view to the political parties is not through abstinence. The best method is to record this view through 49 'O'.

3. Secrecy of ballot is a right conferred on the voter by the Constitution. But the election commission's procedure of not keeping 49 'O' voting as secretive, amounts to a violation of this right. Therefore the Election commission should rectify this anomaly by introducing a separate button for 49 'O' in the electronic voting machines, for the forthcoming Tamilnadu elections.

4. It is the duty of the Election commission to educate the booth officers about the availability of 49 'O while conducting classes to them on polling procedures. The present practice of booth officers expressing ignorance about 49 'O' and refusing a vote to record under 49 'O' should be totally eliminated.'

"O PODU" movement will campaign among voters, particularly the youth, seeking support for the above demands, by use of posters, pamphlets, meetings, T shirt messages, e mails and SMS.
